As early as 1977, Dr. Heinz-Horst Deichmann decided to provide long-term help to people in the poorest regions of the world. In past years, his own resources have given rise to work of enormous proportions.
First the wortundtat society was founded to help lepers in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. This work quickly extended to other realms. In Tanzania, wortundtat began implementing a development concept in 1996 for a region where approximately 300,000 people live. And in Moldova the newest wortundtat project began in 2006.Here you’ll find the actual annual review of wortundtat.
Help toward self-help right from the beginning
The organization sends no Europeans into the developing regions, but works closely with the locals. It transfers responsibility for project implementation to them. wortundtat helps with ideas, expertise and financial resources. The principle has proven itself over the years: More than 100,000 people get help from wortundtat – and the trend is increasing.
